SYSTEMS SOFTWARE SPECIALST

Location: Merrifield, VA Full/Part: 40 hours

Duties: Provide system engineering and software development services to IRS’ Large and Mid Size Businesses (LMSB) Operating Division. Task is to assist the IRS in their effort to develop and field multiple releases of a system to support revenue agents in the execution of audit plans. Participate in analysis and preparation of IRS Enterprise Life Cycle (ELC)-compliant technical deliverables including the Business Process Model View, Application Model View, and Program/Object Design Specifications. All work will be performed within the framework of the IRS Tier B-tailored ELC. Successful candidate will mentor development staff in the design and development of Java code, using J2EE standards and practices. Candidate will participate in OO design sessions. Candidate
will conduct code walkthroughs to insure the success of the project from a coding standards and practices viewpoint.

Mandatory: Successful candidate will have proven track record in developing and deploying systems using Java J2EE standards. Candidate must demonstrate knowledge in current J2EE
standards. Candidate must have excellent organizational and communication skills and have the ability to resolve development issues with stakeholders, software vendors, and management. Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of Java development experience in large or medium-sized projects and at least 2 years as a technical team lead, mentor or equivalent. Candidate must be a self-starter and able to work independently.

Desired: Desirable skills include experience in working with the IRS and a working knowledge of the Enterprise Life Cycle. Familiarity with the Modernization Enterprise Architecture. Experience in Oracle Java development tools a plus.

Experience: At least 6 years experience

Education: Bachelors degree in a related field

Major or Field of Special: All candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident. Selected candidates may be subject to, and therefore must comply with all applicable U.S. export control regulations. Selected candidate must pass an IRS Minimum Background Investigation.
